GROW ENRICH
A global programme aimed at improving maternal and child health and nutrition in Marakwet East of Elgeyo Marakwet county through strengthening health and nutrition systems and operationalizing, operationalizing gender-sensitive health and nutrition rights strategies.
Project Overview
The project aims to improve nutrition and health outcomes for vulnerable women of reproductive age, adolescent girls, and children under two in Elgeyo Marakwet County by implementing direct health and nutrition interventions at household and community levels. Grow Enrich strengthens government capacity to implement updated, gender-sensitive nutrition policies aligned with African Union standards, improves access to quality maternal, child, and adolescent nutrition services, and promotes behaviour change through enhanced knowledge and skills to improve immediate health and nutrition status. The project also builds the capacity of local civil society organisations to advocate for sustained, equitable health and nutrition services at community, county, national, and regional levels.
OBJECTIVES:
- Target country governments implement updated national nutrition policies, strategies and action plans that are consistent with AU nutrition policies and apply gender-sensitive policies on health and nutrition rights at national and sub-national levels.
- Women of reproductive age, adolescent girls, and children under 2 years of age take up improved gender-sensitive nutrition and health services in the target regions.
- Local civil society organisations use strengthened organisational capacity to conduct sustained advocacy for the provision of improved gender-sensitive health and nutrition services at community, district, national and regional levels.
