Building Bridges for Peace: ADS North Rift Hosts Multi-Stakeholder Meeting in Nandi

As part of the ongoing Western Kenya Peace Initiative (WKPI) project, ADS North Rift convened a dynamic multi-stakeholder peace forum in Nandi County, bringing together key players from government, civil society, the security sector, and community-based organizations. The meeting aimed to strengthen partnerships and foster sustainable peace, particularly across border areas that have experienced recurring tensions.

The WKPI project recognizes that true peace cannot be achieved in isolation. It demands intentional dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration across all sectors of society. In this spirit, the forum provided a platform for honest engagement, reflection, and joint planning to promote peace and social cohesion in the region.

A Convergence of Voices for Peace

Attendees included chiefs, civil society actors, religious leaders and law enforcement officers. The diversity of participants underscored the project’s inclusive approach and belief that every stakeholder has a critical role in promoting and maintaining peace.

Discussions focused on the root causes of conflict, including resource-based tensions, ethnic divisions, and misinformation. Participants shared success stories, challenges, and practical strategies for building resilient communities. A recurring theme was the need to move from reaction to prevention, building systems that detect and address conflict early through community-based structures.

A Collective Vision for a Peaceful Region

The forum closed with a strong collective commitment to continue fostering peace through joint action. Key resolutions included:

  • Enhancing inter-county collaboration on peace efforts

  • Strengthening community policing and information sharing

  • Supporting youth and women-led peace initiatives

  • Promoting civic education and interfaith dialogue

As ADS North Rift, we remain committed to walking with communities on the journey toward a more just, inclusive, and peaceful society. This meeting was not just about discussions, it was about deepening trust and forging lasting partnerships that will shape the future of our region.

“Peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, inclusion, and opportunity. Together, we are building that future.”
