ADS North Rift joined partners and community members in commemorating Global Handwashing Day 2025 in Marakwet West, under the theme “Be a Hand Washing Hero.” This year’s celebrations focused on promoting proper handwashing practices as a simple yet powerful tool for preventing disease and improving community health.
To mark the day, various schools and health facilities across Marakwet West Sub-county received water tanks, a donation from World Vision, aimed at enhancing access to safe handwashing facilities. These donations are a step toward building sustainable hygiene practices in learning institutions and health facilities, ensuring that communities have the resources they need to maintain clean hands year-round.
The event brought together key partners, including ADS North Rift, World Vision, and the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet, demonstrating strong collaboration towards improved public health outcomes.
The celebrations were graced by the Member of County Assembly for Marakwet West and the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Health for Elgeyo Marakwet County, who joined the community in highlighting the critical role of handwashing in disease prevention and health promotion.
Global Handwashing Day serves as a reminder that hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways to prevent illness, save lives, and build resilient communities. Through strategic partnerships and community involvement, initiatives like this are contributing to sustainable health practices and the achievement of global development goals.
